**please note all of our instructors are certified by the Yoga Centre Winnipeg or currently enrolled in the Yoga Centre Winnipeg’s Teacher Training Program to ensure compatibility, continuity and competence in instruction.

Jan Debenham, co-owner of the Yoga Centre Winnipeg, has studied Iyengar yoga with a variety of teachers including Donald Moyer and Father Joe Pereira. In addition, Jan is a certified Vinyasa teacher, receiving her training from the White Lotus Foundation. As well as teaching classes that range from beginner to advanced, Jan currently directs the Yoga Centre Winnipeg’s Advanced Teacher Training program. Jan also oversees a yearlong mentorship program known as “Cultivating the Seeds of the Divine” As someone who truly lives the practice, Jan’s dedication to asana and meditation shines through as she guides students with insight, knowledge, and caring to explore the joy of yoga. Shauna Ellerby, co-owner of the Yoga Centre Winnipeg, has studied yoga with a variety of teachers including Hart Lazer, Gayle Dieleman and Father Joe Pereira. In addition Shauna is a certified Kripalu teacher, receiving her training from the Kripalu Centre in Massachusetts. Shauna’s playful loving approach to her own yoga practice inspires her students to tread lightly in all areas of their life, on the mat as well as off. Shauna Currently leads the YCW teacher Training Program. In addition to yoga asana classes, Shauna also offers meditation classes. Her meditation class style is inclusive and offers an approach that is available to one and all. (Certified RYT 200 Hours)
Candace Propp, long time student and teacher at the Yoga Centre Winnipeg, Candace brings 23 years as a teacher in the public school system with her into the yoga room. Candace’s classes focus on detailed instruction, alignment and enhancing body/mind awareness. (YCW certified 2002)
Brigitte Dupuis, combines her passion for yoga with her graduate studies in science to produce classes which are thoughtful, well researched, and joyful. (YCW certified 2004).
Darlene Sveinson, currently a physical education teacher, Darlene brings her more than 20 years experience as a fitness leader into the yoga community. (YCW certified 2003).
Craig Harren is originally from Ontario. Certified as an Ashtanga yoga instructor by David Swenson in Vancouver 2001 and Yoga Dot Calm in Calgary 2005, Craig brings compassion and warmth to the dynamic practice of Ashtanga yoga. Craig is also a registered Shiatsu therapist.
Patty Malone happily traveled the first half of her life as dancer, wife, mother and (elated) grandmother. In 2001 Patty discovered yoga and a true sense of community. Professionally she works directly with older adults to understand and enrich their lives in a social housing setting. (YCW certified 2008)
Kathy Pankratz: In addition to 20 years as a Montessori teacher specializing in music and art, Kathy is also a former fitness instructor who came to yoga after knee problems stopped her from running. Kathy’s love of teaching yoga and learning new things is evident in her ability to inspire others to grow and learn about themselves through the practice of yoga. (YCW certified 2009)
Jeremy Williamson Jeremy loves yoga. Completely. He hopes to share with his students the warmth, intense effort, stillness and beauty he finds in the yoga studio. (YCW TT completed)
Nancy Cherewayko Nancy’s down to earth nature lends itself to a teaching style that is practical, approachable, and dynamic. Nancy draws on her years of experience leading fitness classes and combines that with her love of yoga. (YCW certified 2007)
Irv Plosker, as a retired businessman, Irv delights fellow seniors with his inspirational classes. (YCW certified 2002).
Larry Isacoff: Larry has worked for 30 years in the theatre industry as a lighting designer and production manager. Larry has passionately embraced yoga as a second career and a renewed life practice. Larry’s classes are joyful and thought provoking. (YCW TT in progress)
Lisa Dessens began her personal practice after being diagnosed with fibromyalgia. After more than 14 years of practicing yoga she is a testament to the healing powers of yoga. When Lisa is not teaching yoga she is an educational audiologist. Lisa is fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) and has experience leading yoga classes in ASL.

Lanora Robertson was inspired by yoga 10 years ago attending a class at a community centre. She brings to her teaching a foundation of traditional yoga values with the practicality of how to utilize them in our modern world. Her formal training began in 2006 with certification in Sivananda Yoga and continues with studies in alignment based yoga through the YCW. (YCW TT in progress).
Candra Hanstead, a new mom, is inspired in her yoga practice by the naturalness of babies and is a true believer in the healing practice of yoga. Candra’s teaching style reflects her love of the energy of Ashtanga yoga and the quietness of alignment based yoga. YCW certified 2008
Corley Magnusson-Tolton has experience and knowledge teaching and consulting in the special education field as well as studies in Kinesiology, Education, and Psychology. As someone who loves learning, teaching, and yoga, Corley embraces the opportunity to connect with students and help them discover the joy she finds in yoga. (YCW TT completed)
Heather McKnight has a background teaching both gymnastics and dance. She particularly enjoys how teaching yoga nourishes her sense of community. Heather’s yoga classes are inspired by her caring nature and her love of life. (YCW certified 2011)
